We are seeking an experienced Hardware Test & Validation Engineer to lead the testing, validation, and quality assurance of smart street light controllers. This role is vital in ensuring the performance, safety, and durability of IoT devices. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, advanced testing methodologies, and a passion for innovation to a fast-paced environment, driving reliability and excellence in smart street lighting products.

Experience

3+ years of experience in hardware testing and validation, with a focus on IoT devices.

Qualification

B.sc/ M.sc (Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field).

Job Responsibilities

  • Test Strategy and Planning:
    • Define and implement comprehensive test and validation strategies for products.
    • Develop end-to-end testing procedures including unit, system, environmental, stress, and compliance testing to meet product performance and safety standards.
    • Collaborate with product management, design, and manufacturing teams to ensure test plans align with product requirements and customer needs.
  • Validation and Execution:
    • Lead the execution of validation plans across hardware and firmware, including extensive high voltage and environmental testing for outdoor electronics.
    • Conduct validation of IoT communication protocols (e.g., LoRa, Zigbee, Cellular) to ensure robust and secure connectivity.
    • Manage and execute tests related to functional performance, reliability, electromagnetic interference (EMI/EMC), thermal management, and power efficiency.
  • Automation and Continuous Improvement:
    • Develop automated test systems to streamline validation processes, ensuring efficiency and repeatability.
    • Continuously improve testing frameworks and methodologies to enhance product quality and reduce development cycles.
    • Utilize data-driven approaches to analyze test results, identifying root causes of failure and driving design improvements.
  • Issue Diagnosis and Resolution:
    • Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations, collaborating with design engineers to identify hardware and firmware bugs, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
    • Use a problem-solving mindset to address product issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on the project timeline.
    • Establish metrics for tracking and reporting test progress, validation coverage, and defect resolution.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
    • Ensure all products meet required regulatory standards (e.g., FCC, CE, UL, RoHS) and are compliant with safety guidelines for high voltage devices.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of validation procedures, test results, and corrective actions.
    • o Contribute to design reviews, providing insights based on validation data and analysis.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in designing, developing, and executing validation plans for complex hardware systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of EMI/EMC standards, power electronics, high voltage safety protocols, and environmental testing.
  • Proficiency in hardware design tools such as Altium, Eagle, or similar CAD platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to debug and diagnose hardware, embedded systems, and IoT-related issues.
  • Experience with product compliance testing and certification for international markets.
  • Experience in validating smart city solutions, especially smart street lighting or similar IoT products.
  • Familiarity with wireless communication protocols (e.g., LoRa, Zigbee, Cellular, Bluetooth) and their performance testing.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Testing (DFT) principles.
  • Experience in implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) in the hardware testing environment.
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of validation efforts across multidisciplinary teams.
