Catch Light Failures Before They Disrupt Service

For many lighting operators, maintenance begins only after someone reports a problem. A resident notices a dark street, a facility manager receives a complaint, or an inspection identifies a failed luminaire. By the time action is taken, the issue has already affected service.

Connected lighting networks are changing this approach by enabling continuous monitoring of every connected device. Instead of waiting for visible failures, operators receive early indications of communication issues, abnormal behaviour, or equipment faults, allowing maintenance to begin before service is disrupted.

A practical example occurred on January 28, 2026, during a routine monitoring of a lighting network at a multisite car dealership by Dhyan’s Customer Success team. The team identified that several Ohli controllers had stopped communicating with the StreetMan platform. Although no outage had been reported, the communication loss indicated that an investigation was required.

The customer was notified immediately, and they arranged for an electrician to address the issue. Early identification reduced uncertainty and enabled corrective action to begin before the communication failure developed into a larger operational problem.

For an automotive dealership, maintaining pleasant and reliable outdoor lighting is an important part of providing an attractive and safe environment for customers and staff. Early detection allowed the communication issue to be addressed before it had the potential to affect business operations.
